Transport has always played a key role in supporting the development of London and in determining the quality of our urban environment - from creating safe, well-functioning, and beautiful streets and stations to regenerating entire areas.
TfL is continually involved in projects to maintain and transform London’s urban environment, often working closely with boroughs, developers, and external design professionals. We seek to ensure that all our work improves the quality of the urban realm, and each mode of TfL is responsible for attaining appropriate urban design quality in all its projects.

Urban Design Team provide specific support in urban design to the modes. They also give strategic design input into Mayoral and TfL policy, sub regional planning and prioritised Mayoral project initiatives.
