The Valuing Urban Realm Toolkit is a new valuation tool developed by TfL with the help of
consultant teams to provide evidential justification for future investment in the urban realm.
The toolkit allows a range of users to analyse a particular public realm scheme in terms of its key benefits and produces outputs of how this project has added value to its area.
The toolkit is fully adaptable to a range of users and outputs depending on the requirements and complexity of the project. With this in mind it has been developed at three user levels: basic ‘designer’ level, intermediate ‘professional’ user level and the full advanced ‘economist’ user level.
The full version allows all five of the key benefit categories to be fully valued to ultimately produce a business case rationale for public realm improvement works.
